The Mogwar Twins

The Mogwar Twins are fairly new arrivals to the village and are considered somewhat strange by their neighbours. Their twisted houses appeared at the edge of the village one dark moonless night amidst many strange noises and odd lights that seemed to disappear if you looked directly at them. At dawn the twins arrived with a motley crew of cats, several large portmanteaus and one or two odd shaped objects swathed in black satin. Although insisting they are twins Ellvian and Dolmares are very different in their appearance and habits; Ellvian is a tall, willowy blonde with huge dark eyes. She almost always wears purple, not for her the sensible blouse and skirt Mother Redikin favours, but long close fitting dresses which trail along the ground behind her; but there is never a speck of dust or dirt to be seen on the hem nor does she leave a visible trail through the dusty tracks which wind through the village. She can be somewhat offhand in her ways with the local people but has an uncanny knack of almost knowing what the animals of the village are thinking and feeling. When out and about in the village she is usually accompanied by Percy, a large tabby cat, with which she converses frequently, fluttering her eyelashes at him and giggling coquettishly as if he were more than just a feline companion. Dolmares is also tall and willowy but has hair that is the most wonderful shade of red; she has striking green eyes and has a tendency to wear frills. The colour seems to be unimportant but the depth of frill is. At times when wearing her green and cream ensemble she resembles a stormy sea, the lace frills spilling around her ankles like the surf on the shore. Dolmares does not share Ellvian’s love of animals and prefers the company of her own kind. Although conversations held with her are somewhat chancy affairs and have caused more than one argument amongst the village married's. Dolmares has the habit of standing very close, leaning forward and gazing into your eyes when speaking and frequently reaches out to touch her co-conversationalist. She often becomes lost in the act of gazing and forgets she was speaking at all. Many a man has found himself staring into her eyes lost in their emerald depths with not a thought in his head, but with the distinct feeling that something of importance has been said or done but have no memory of what. They merely arrive back on this plane with their wives sharp elbow in their ribs.

Both Ellvian and Dolmares are very beautiful women and are generally very welcoming, open and friendly. Perhaps because of this, some of the villagers (especially the other women) believe that the twins, are in fact witches or at the very least, dabblers in the dark arts. They cite the fact that very few people have been invited within the walls of the Twins houses and those who have are reluctant to talk about what they have seen or they are vague in their descriptions as if they can’t quite recall the visit. Sometimes at night strange, unexplained sounds and lights can be seen in and around the twin’s house. The Twins are probably the only ones of late who have refused an invite to Mother Redikin’s. Choosing to ignore the invitation completely and seemingly escaping unscathed; although the rest of the village are awaiting the time of confrontation between the strange and mystic twins and the stout hearted keeper of the village morals.
